About Us

Spokane Friends Church

Spokane Friends Church started in 1950.  There were several organizational meetings prior to that time.  The first Sunday School was held in the old Madison School, a few blocks west of Division Street.

The property for the present meeting house was acquired through Gilbert Strand, who worked for the county and purchased it for $200.00 for delinquent taxes, soon after 1950.  The cornerstone for the present building was laid in 1953 and the building completed in 1954.  The sand dunes and multiple pine trees have been replaced with a large residential area.  Major arterial streets on each side of the property make it very visible and accessible.

Clark Smith was our first pastor.  Through the leadership of various pastors and members of the congregation, many pastors, missionaries, and church leaders have developed to answer God’s call to serve in numerous locations and around the world.  Our church continued to reach out to those in the local area.  Spokane Friends Church has developed into a nucleus of strong believers due to the faithfulness of God’s leading.  We continued to minister to the local community and around the world with the vision of reaching out to bring men and women to salvation through Christ Jesus.

Our worship, fellowship, and outreach continues . . . . . . . . .
